White Pine District Library Donation Programs

A donation to the White Pine District Library is a thoughtful way to remember or recognize a special person in your life, and at the same time it enriches the library’s collection. It’s a gift that gives to everyone, year after year.

General Donations: Many people choose to show their appreciation for the library and recognize its importance in the community by making a donation to the library. These donations are used to purchase special materials and are designated by a bookplate bearing the donor’s name. These donations are an important part of the library’s collection.

Memorial Donations: Your memorial donation is a lasting way to remember a loved one or a special friend. Your donation will be used to purchase materials that will be utilized and enjoyed by community members. Each time someone uses this material, your memorial designee will be remembered as the memorial bookplate is read and appreciated, and you will be recognized as the donor.

An honor donation is a wonderful way to recognize someone special in your life. This is a fun way to honor a birthday, anniversary or accomplishment, and just perfect for a friend, a helpful neighbor, a teacher, a family member, or that hard-to-buy for person on your gift list. It’s always a thrill to open a book and see your name and that of your honoree.

Group Donations: At the request of family or the donor, donations may be combined to purchase more expensive print or media materials that the library needs. This material also receives a bookplate that recognizes the donee, and the donors as “Family &/or Friends of …” This is another excellent way to pay tribute to someone who has been an important part of your life.

Each Book Receives a bookplate with the donor’s and donee’s names, and a special message, if desired.

Each Donee Receives a personalized notification or a notification is sent to the family of the deceased that the library has received a donation in his or her name. The donee or the family of the deceased has the opportunity to be the first patron to check out the material.

Each Donor Receives a thank you for his or her donation, and this also  includes a Daily News article recognizing his or her donation and the donee.

Material Selection: Donors may designate that their donation go toward the purchase of material for children or adults, and they may also designate the format of the material selected: book, video or audio. Donors may also suggest a subject area to use their donation for, but the library may need to select materials outside of this subject area to better serve the needs of the library. Many of the more popular subject areas are quite complete as a result of wonderful donations in the past. A lot of time and thought is put into the selection of all materials so that the dollar amount of the donation is spent appropriately, and so that we can be sure that each item will be used and enjoyed by many people. Each use of an honor or memorial item is a way of remembering your designee time and time again.

If you have any questions or would like to make a donation, please contact the library.
